Over his 30 years in practice, Mr. Widom has represented countless Self-Insured Employers, Insurance Carriers, worked with almost every Third Party Administrator and has had a long and significant relationship with the California Insurance Guarantee Association.

Richard M. Widom has been Certified as having been Selected as a Member of the Council on Litigation Management, an International Organization. This occurred after having been nominated by its Advisory Board Chairman and following Evaluations of the Highest Ethical Standards and Integrity, Accomplishment in the Profession of Law and Adherence to the Canons, Ethical Considerations and Disciplinary Rules of the Model Code of Professional Conduct.

During his over 30 years in practice, Mr. Widom has participated in numerous seminars covering a wide range of topics presented to groups of Employers, to Insurance Carriers, and for Third Party Administrators as well for the California Insurance Guarantee Association. He has also been retained as a consultant and served many years ago as a Judge Pro Tem. In addition, Mr. Widom has trained numerous defense attorneys on Workers’ Compensation Laws, negotiating tactics, Self-insured Employer Regulations and Medicare Set-Aside Allocations.



Ms. Savey was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2000. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in 1997 from the University of San Francisco as well as an Honors Humanities Degree from the Saint Ignatius Institute. She continued her education with Golden Gate University School of Law whereat she obtained her Doctorate of Jurisprudence in 2000. She is a member of the State Bar of California Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Her professional experience began in Workers’ Compensation in 2000. Throughout her career she has represented Employers, Insurance Carriers, Third Party Administrator’s, and CIGA in the California Workers’ Compensation System. She has assisted Employers in developing protocols and procedures for compliance with Medical Provider Networks.

Ms. Savey has planned and conducted presentations for claims personnel advising of pertinent modification in the California workers compensation law as well as Medicare Set-Aside Allocations. In addition, she has participated in employer claims reviews for multiple accounts to facilitate a cohesive defense team inclusive of the employer and insurance representatives. Ms. Savey has undergone extensive legal training in Self Insured Employer Regulations in order to provide comprehensive analysis and assessment of liability in light of indemnity exposure inclusive of prospective monetary reserving of the claim. Ms. Savey has also provided National Risk Managers with recommendations to implement new policy for effective claims management in California as well as coordinate and lead team meetings with executive management to ensure compliance with the California Labor Code.


Ms. Morales was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2002. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in 1997 from the University of California, Los Angeles majoring in English. She continued her education at the University of West Los Angeles where she obtained her doctorate of Jurisprudence in 2001.

Professional Activities

Ms. Morales’ professional experience began in workers’ compensation in 2003. She initiated her practice representing injured workers for about six months, thereafter she switched to the defense side to sharpen her litigation skills. She has represented public entities and self-insureds as well as third-party administrators. She has been successful in her defense of petitions for penalties, petitions under 132(a), and has obtained Findings and Awards with a “take nothing”. Ms. Morales has participated in employer claims reviews and has participated and conducted presentations for claims personnel advising of updates in the law.

Ms. Morales enjoys dancing and long walks in the park.

LYDIA A. WALTON – Lien Specialist

Ms. Walton is the firm’s Workers’ Compensation Hearing and Lien Representative for California. With over 12 years of experience in the Workers’ Compensation arena as a Hearing Representative specializing in liens and holding an unbeatable “Take Nothing” Lien Trial record amongst her peers, she is a great asset to the Widom & Savey, LLP’s Workers’ Compensation team. Ms. Walton is well respected by the Workers’ Compensation Judges and has made innumerable appearances at Workers’ Compensation Appeals Boards throughout the State of California, extending from San Francisco to San Diego. She has also worked as an employee of various insurance carriers, including State Farm, Zenith, and Fremont Compensation as a Hearing and Lien Representative. In 2003, Ms. Walton became certified with the California Insurance Guarantee Association. In addition to her extensive experience and knowledge regarding lien consolidated cases and SIU fraudulent claims, she was the first to present a Chiropractic consolidated matter before the State of California. Ms. Walton brings to the firm a unique approach to lien resolution and case closure.

Ms. Walton enjoys tennis, golf, singing, and collecting vintage broaches. She is also an avid fan of basketball and X Games. Ms. Walton is the granddaughter of the Former Mayor of Irwindale, Mr. Justin Garcia, and enjoys participating in annual city events.

Over the past 6 years, Ms. Walton has lectured at various insurance companies on the subject: “A Unique Approach to Resolution of Liens”, wherein she provided lien strategies toward favorable defense resolutions. Ms. Walton is a member of the Azusa Lighthouse Mission in downtown Los Angeles and the former Director of The Los Angeles Singles Conference. She is also the lead vocalist with “Shades of Brown”, a local Latin Jazz / Salsa band.
